Susan Helen Strok
As a classically trained artist, I love to draw and colored pencil employs that skill.  Building complicated, translucent color  through layering creates the most intense, vibrant hues.  It is a medium of great nuance and possibility, particularly effective in  rendering the subtleties of the human face.  My favorite surfaces are pastelbord and black paper. Subject matter ranges from figurative realism to  portraiture.  I can't resist beautiful objects and nature, but I am most drawn to the human form where l enjoy introducing a twist of magic, metaphor and mystery.
