Serious Conversation

I suppose my fate was established at an early age being born the son of an art teacher in Gary, Indiana.  Taking art classes in elementary, middle, and high school, plus additional "helpful hints & tips" from my father, the seeds of interest were sown.
Growing up with Western movies & TV series, most of the subject matter was related to the West by using comic books, magazines, encyclopedias, and a wild imagination as reference.  Personally, I had never been west of the Mississippi River.  After receiving the Bachelor's and Master's degree in Art Education from Lincoln and Indiana Universities, I taught art in Gary and Denver for the next 40 years.  I was introduced to "serious work" with colored pencil through my second child.  He had completed an assignment in colored pencil for his high school art class.  I had thought it was done in acrylics but he assured me it was colored pencil. I was very impressed.  Colored pencil has been my choice of media ever since.   Discovering  & joining the CPSA Denver Chapter has added to my appreciation,  development, growth and use of the colored pencil.  Opportunities to work , critique and exhibit     with this wonderful group of professionals is an experience I'll cherish always.
